Common Infiniti Q60 Problems

VR30DDTT 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine developing boost leaks at the charge pipe connections and intercooler fittings, causing reduced power output, check engine lights for boost deviation codes, and inconsistent throttle response. The factory clamps and couplers degrade from heat cycling.
VR30DDTT engine high-pressure fuel pump failures causing extended cranking, rough idle, and stalling under heavy acceleration. The cam-driven fuel pump lobe and pump internals wear prematurely, failing to maintain adequate rail pressure for the direct injection system.
Seven-speed automatic transmission exhibiting harsh 2-3 and 4-5 upshifts and delayed downshift responses. The valve body accumulator springs weaken over time, and the transmission control module adaptive learning cannot fully compensate for the mechanical degradation.
Rear window regulator motor and cable assembly failures causing the rear windows to drop into the door panel or stop mid-travel. The plastic guide rollers crack and the steel cable frays, requiring full regulator assembly replacement rather than simple motor swaps.
VQ37VHR-equipped Q60 models suffering from a persistent engine oil cooler gasket leak that allows oil to seep externally onto the engine block. The gasket material deteriorates from heat exposure, and the leak worsens progressively, potentially dripping onto hot exhaust components.

Infiniti Q60 Lemon Law FAQ

My Q60 VR30DDTT keeps losing boost pressure and the dealer cannot fix it. What are my options in California?

Under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, if Infiniti has failed to repair the boost pressure defect after a reasonable number of warranty repair attempts, you can demand a repurchase or replacement of your Q60. Loss of engine power is a safety concern that strengthens your claim, particularly if it occurs during highway merging or passing situations.

The Q60 seven-speed transmission shifts harshly. Is that enough for a California lemon law case?

Harsh shifting that substantially impairs the use, value, or safety of your Q60 can qualify under the Song-Beverly Act. Courts have found that transmission defects affecting drivability constitute substantial impairment. You should have the issue documented at an authorized Infiniti dealer at least two to four times to establish a pattern of failed repair attempts.

I purchased an extended warranty for my Q60. Does that affect my Song-Beverly Act rights?

An extended warranty or service contract can actually extend your Song-Beverly Act protections. The Act covers defects that arise during any express warranty period, including extended warranties sold by the manufacturer or dealer. If a covered defect in your Q60 cannot be repaired during the extended warranty period, you may still pursue a lemon law claim.

Can I get a civil penalty against Infiniti if they refuse my Q60 lemon law claim in California?

Yes. Under California Civil Code Section 1794, if the manufacturer willfully fails to comply with its obligations under the Song-Beverly Act, you may be awarded a civil penalty of up to two times your actual damages. If Infiniti knew about the defect, had notice of your repair history, and still refused to repurchase or replace your Q60, a court may find this willful and impose the penalty.
